About the Role
As a PostDoc, located in Basel (Switzerland), you will lead and execute design, process development, and characterization of a new generation of Lipid Nanoparticle (LNP) formulations in close collaboration with experts within the Technical Development and Biomedical Research groups in Switzerland and the USA.

Key responsibilities:
- Conception, design, execution and reporting of an independent research program for the development of a novel LNP platform for RNA delivery
- Formulation and characterization of novel lipid nanoparticle designs
- Data analysis and correlation of nanoparticle characteristics to biological endpoints in vitro and in vivo to enable data driven optimization of lipid nanoparticles with superior biological properties
- Process development activities and assessment of process performance
- Close collaboration with key stakeholders and interfaces within the organization and externally on the project
Essential requirements:
- Education: PhD in life sciences (e.g. chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, Bio- or chemical engineering or similar fields, completion of PhD no longer than 3 years ago)
- Languages: Proficiency in English
- Experience/Professional requirements:
- Deep theoretical knowledge and practical experience in lipid nanoparticle formulation and process development in the context of RNA delivery, including physicochemical and bio-functional characterization.
- Organizational and scientific skills including curiosity and planning and execution of lab work
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams in an international environment
- Strong publication track record and evidence of strong scientific communication and presentation skills
Desirable requirements:
- Experience in state-of-the-art pharmaceutical technology/processing and characterization of physicochemical properties / pharmaceutical material sciences (e.g. characterization of LNP morphology)
- Practical experience in cell culture and flow cytometry as well as in the development of biochemical assays
